Question: May I run VI PowerScripter within a VM?

May I run VI PowerScripter within a virtual machine and will the support be granted the same way?

Answer

Yes, of course. icomasoft will support customers using our product line to integrate into VMware virtual environments. icomasoft will provide support for VI PowerScripter in VMware virtual environments in an idential manner as with PowerScripter on other supported x86 or x64 based systems without requiring reproduction of issues on native hardware.

Question: VI client - Available Plugins

Within the VMware Plugin Manager there is a PowerScripter Plugin available for installation, but itīs already activated. When I click on install there is an error.

Answer

After installing the PowerScripter Scheduler service an extension is registered for VMware VirtualCenter. Because of this extension the Available entry for PowerScripter is created. At the moment the Download and Install button hits empty space and there is an error. You can ignore the "Available" Section at all for PowerScripter because we donīt use that functionality right now.

Question: PowerScripter Plugin is not working: connect-viserver failure

The following messages occurs everytime I try to run a script:

Answer

Unfortunately thatīs an usual behaviour at the moment of VMware VI Toolkit. VMware VI Toolkit is not able to connect to an ESX Server or a VirtualCenter Server if a Proxy Authentication is enabled within Internet Explorer.

Please deactivate the Proxy authentication temporary or allow your client permanently within the Proxy

Question: Do I need a connect-viserver within PowerScripter Scripts?

Answer

No you donīt! VI PowerScripter handles all connection by itself.

Exception: connection within scripts to other VI Server than the VI Client connection PowerScripter runs from. But remember to disconnect this sessions with the command: disconnect-viserver -confirm:$false
